Well, I'm here but I can't find the meeting spot and I'm not seeing any large groups of photographers standing around.

OK, I would like to hear from those of you going to Hoop dancing tomorrow. I’m thinking through what lens to bring, having never been to the Heard, or seen Hoop dancing. Reading through the Mesuem’s website they do NOT allow flash, tripods or large camera bags within the museum, so I may have a tripod in the car, but not carrying around that stuff on the meetup.

I’m thinking of putting a[masked]MM F2.8 on a FF body, and perhaps arming my wife with a[masked] on a crop body. In looking at Youtube videos of this event at other places like Knots Berry Farm, don’t think I will need a shorter Focal length than 70, The[masked]MM is an intrusive lens however, you can’t hide the fact that you are shooting with it. And dancing around on dirt, probably is not the best place to do a lens change unless I carry a trash bag.

Interested to hear from anyone who has seen this before.

Hey Brian, what kind of things are indoors to shoot?

      February 8, 2013

    • Brian R.

If it is indoors, the lighting is not great so bring fast glass. Also there are so exhibits that are nice to see.

20% chance of rain on Saturday. We will play it by ear.

    February 4, 2013

    • Tammy

I have sacrificed the virgin albino squirrel in the hopes that this prevents rain. It's darn hard to find those things by the way, lol.

must have worked... now only a 10% chance of rain

So I called the museum as this event has been indoors in the past. I was told it will be outdoors unless it rains in which case they will move indoors. I guess we will have to look at the forcast for the chances or rain and decide if we want to bring faster glass in case they move inside.

Hello guys, I will be shooting with my[masked] on the Nikon D800 and a small bag, bring as clear plastic bag as you can get for the rain if any. and shoot a lot, I will see everyone there.

    February 8, 2013

    • Scott M.

I guess if it rains it's legitimate to have an umbrella, I may bring one to shield the camera in case. Thanks for reminding me of the possibility of rain.

I think the pics we take at this event would qualify for the above contest. The prizes look pretty cool. Thought I would post for everyone's info.

Hey guys - I know we will probably be pooped chickens after this event, but the Glendale Chocolate Affaire is this weekend also (Saturday and Sunday). I'm thinking of hitting it Saturday afternoon for an hour or so. Would anyone else be interested? Parking is pretty "mission impossible," but we could meet up together and do some more street photography.
