Technology & Product Seminar/Photo Shoot at Val Vista Lakes

Marc has encouraged us to have a technology & product seminar. Just in time for  Holiday shopping!

We will  meet around 1:30, and enjoy some bagels, coffee and mimosas… and non-alcoholic beverages as well. Location is the beautiful  Val Vista Lake  Club House.  Please sign in at the front desk and then head up stairs to the community room.  (there is no elevator  available to this meeting location)

Seminar- will combine fielding technology questions you may have about cameras, lenses, batteries, printing, and so forth. Rick has no bias on brands but will try to answer your questions based upon his knowledge and experience. We would also show you the array of products our company designs and manufactures. The personalized and customized options need some lead time to manufacture and would be ready in time for the holidays.

Photo Shoot- The VVL club facility has an exceptional lagoon pool with very photogenic waterfall, rock and planting features. The afternoon light after the seminar should make a nice setting for capturing the moving water and it might make a nice meeting capper to do some long exposure photography. We can get into the needed equipment in subsequent emails and will bring some additional support equipment to get those unfamiliar with this type of photography acclimated.

Excellent. The material presented was novel and very interesting. The seminar was well organized and clearly presented ,with slides. Sample products were available for trial. Rick and Adrienne were very helpful in answering questions. I would recommend this seminar. I'd like to take another seminar on the same subject in the future.

The enthusiasm of the attendees was so appreciated. It was gratifying to have people ask questions & be excited about our camera straps & products. One more positive note, job creation within our communities starts w/new businesses like ours! Thank you for your patronage.

It was very good...a little technically over my head, but stuff any serious photographer will want in certain situations. (It was a demonstration of various creations). The awesome thing about it was that Rick and Adrian have business they run from home and everything they create is a bonus for photographers. Can't wait till all the patents clear!

Lots of up and coming technology for people that have a lot invested in gear.

With regard to type, I’m a Cokin Pro fan for most filters other than the protection and polarizer filters since the holder with multiple lens rings allows you to use all of the specialty filters with your entire lens collection. They are also priced competitively. That said, any quality threaded filter is also a good alternative.

Thanks for the info - I'll see if I can find a filter before the shoot. It's going to be fun :)

    Hi Kathy,
The waterfalls all have a northern exposure and we will probably be shooting them late afternoon in the shadows so we may just be lucky enough to get 1 second exposures at max f stop without the filter but a 3 to 6 stop filter in the arsenal isn’t a bad thing.

If you want to shoot long line waterfalls--there will be a little short session on using the neutral density filter to slow your shutter speed. You will need an ND filter, tripod and preferably a cable release (to not bump the camera). Also if you stay around long enough-- around 5:15 the sun will start to set and the waterfalls are decorated with lights for the holidays. Again tripods may be in order to accommodate for the lower light... the reflections off the lagoon pool are nice.

Looking forward to it! Where would I get a neutral density filter? My camera will show the shutter speed without a filter, so what is the ND filter for?

OK I found out what the ND filter does now - what kind should I get?

I could do this if it was a Saturday, or if it was in mid-December. But my Sundays, until then, are taken up with Docent training at the AZ Humane Society.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
