Spreewald is a designated a biosphere reserve situated about 100km south of Berlin. The landscape and culture here are quite unique and very photogenic.
Today we will travel to the small town of Lübbenau, situated a 1 hour train ride away. I'd suggest we first wander from the train station into town (around 1km), maybe have drinks and snacks, then take a short, 3km circular walk along the canals, via the small village of Lehde. Alternatively, if anyone would like to go canoeing, there are lots of rental places in Lübbenau. Afterwards we can take a look around the town and sample some of the locally produced food and drink before taking the train back to Berlin.
For more information on Spreewald, see Spreewald.de and this article in The Local.
Lets meet at Berlin Friedrichstrasse station at 10:15. Please meet me at the ticket office so we can purchase tickets. We'll travel on the Brandenburg tickets which cost 29 euro for up to 5 people and split the total cost by however many people turn up. Please bring enough change to contribute towards your ticket. The train departs at 10:37 and arrives in Lübbenau at 11:37.
