PART II Autumn of colors and tropical heat (former Urban gardening)

At the "Autumn colors and tropical heat (former Urban gardening and guerilla-gardens)" which took place at October 21 2012, we spend all the time outside, walking, taking pictures and even had a small pick-nick, but the time was flying and missed to see the fabulous greenhouse. We will do it this time (at least give it priority)

We will meet at the entrance (cashier) of the garden. Please be on time, we can form a group and get some discount at the entrance.

Beautiful and mystical
What is now proposed is even better! It's a place close to Brussels, easily accessible for everybody.
If the weather is nice, it's beautiful, if not, it can be even mystical. Especially when autumn spreads it's decent colors everywhere. Surprisingly it's not very well known among the expat scene. It is the National Botanic Garden of Belgium in Meise (a bit - ca. 3km - north of the Atomium).
Outside, there are so many different types of trees which you will rarely see arranged like this anywhere in the world! Not enough, the large greenhouse with its amazing variety of plants is also worth a visit.

What to bring
So, bring of course your camera, if you have, your macro and zoom equipment and whatever you may need for landscape AND close-ups. Of course, we will as usual discuss, ask and explain as we go. Don't worry, if you don't have a special photo gear. I have seen stunning pictures which were taken with an instamatic.

What we will do
Also this time, we will be a good mix of experts and beginners sharing the same passion and don't forget: there is always someone who knows something which all the others don't know. We also will have a small challenge for the excitement ;)

What if
As usual, we can expect the weather condition will be perfect for that day, we will meet in any case and in case its raining heavily, there is also the greenhouse and there are some shelters in the park.

Autmnpicknick
Bring some cheese/sausage/etc and something to drink. We will try to have a pick-nick, propably in on of those tiny weather shelters.

How to get there
http://www.br.fgov.be/PUBLIC/GENERAL/howtoreach.php
Adress: Jardin botanique national de Belgique
Nieuwelaan 38
1860 Meise
By Car. We also can do some car-sharing. Start the discussion.
By Bus to Meise. Stop is "Nationale Plantentuin".
You can use the planner: http://www.delijn.be/en/index.htm with the street address above. In practical terms, we may form two groups. One is coming by bus from Brussels, the others go directly.

Questions
If you have any questions, please contact the organizer or start a discussion.

    Hello all,
If somebody is still looking for a lift, I will also take my car. I'm living in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre and I can take 3 or 4 people. So let me know if you are interested ;-)!
    See you!

Hello Rosalia. Yes I still have places. So, no problem to pick you up at Arts Loi Station! To make it simple, I will pick you up Mehrdad and you at the intersection of the 'Rue de la loi' and the 'Avenue des arts'. My car is a grey Toyota Yaris.

Any proposals for the small challenge?

      The challenge:
(Nobody came up with a proposal, so I have a little task for you:)

Take three pictures of the same scene (e.g. a plant with something in the background).
On the first picture, everything in the foreground shall be in focus, the background blurred.
On the second picture, do just the opposite, foreground blurred, background in focus (sharp).
And finally, the third one with foreground and background in focus (sharp).
It's easy if you know how. If you don't know how - ask ;)
If you can't do it with your camera - i am sure someone will let you do it with his or her camera. Don't forget to wear some summer dress underneath if you plan to pose for a portrait in front of tropical plants ;)
