Bert Monroy: "Painting with Photoshop"

Bert Monroy is considered one the world’s leading Photoshop painters. In
this presentation, he will teach you many of the techniques he has
developed in the creation of his internationally renowned work.

If you think you know everything there is to know about Photoshop, you
must attend this event. Bert will teach you features of Photoshop most
people overlook — not just how things work, but, most importantly, why.
You'll come away with a solid foundation for moving to the next step in
Photoshop.

Bert will show you how to use filters in ways you never thought possible.
He will show you how to take a blank screen and create imagery that will
force the viewer to question whether the image is real or an illusion.

ALSO: Bert will also show new exciting 3D workflows for creative designers who want to learn about Photoshop CS4 Extended’s 3D capabilities. There are many simple 3D effects one can use for many different creative outputs that many people aren’t aware of and Bert will wow us with these techniques.

This event promises to be not only educational but inspirational. You will
be left with the motivation to take Photoshop and your imagination to
heights you never thought possible.

I was extremely disappointed to not be able to attend due to unusually heavy traffic on the Bay Bridge. I did not get to the site until 6:45 to discover there was no parking to be had. I drove around the block looking for parking but made a wrong turn and ended up on the 280 southbound onramp. By this time it was nearly 7 o'clock and just too late (opposing traffic was very heavy so turning around was not a good option.) I'm not that familiar with that part of SF so I just gave up and came home.

Amazing speaker. My impression after observing is that he is someone who has great organizational skills about his trade. For his artistic crafts, he is able to utilize Photoshop to it's utmost, and to this day still manages to push it to it's limits. He showed amazing examples of his art, and they are all on a grandiose scale somewhat.
    It's inspirational.

Bert shared some insights and tips on using Photoshop CS4.To me, the 3D aspects were most interesting. His digital paintings are off the charts in terms of accuracy, detail and file size. 11 TB file for Times Square?

I'd been wanting a introduction to Photoshop 3d tools, and Bert delivered that in spades !!

I seen Mr. Bert Monroy work on the Internet before, and he is very outstanding instructor on teaching art work in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. He gave a lecture on the benefits of using Photoshop CS4, and how it would save you time, money, and great art work you can do in 3D. The prizes form AMD on Graphic Cards was very good, and the food at the meeting too.

Excellent speaker/demo by an exceptional talent!! It was exciting to learn such tricks by him; I wish we had more time to learn even more! Hopefully he'll be back to show us some more in the near future.

Bert is an expert in his field. I was amazed at what he could do. The only wish I had was that he would have gone a bit slower so that I could have absorbed the techniques that he demonstrated. Good thing he has a web sit with most of this stuff to go back to and absorb the information at my pace.!!
  • LeAnn Raschke
Very impressive and informative. He introduced a lot of new techniques.
  • Laurie Wigham
A terrific presenter with a lot of amazing techniques.

Personally I love listening to old Mac hippies tell stories about the 128k Mac and such. However, I suspect most of the crowd were still drinking from sippy cups when much of that was relevant. Bert doesn't need to reach back that far to establish his chops with PS. Overall the presentation was informative, interesting and inspiring. Certainly makes me want to take a second look at the 3D capabilities of PS - if I get a version that supports them.

Bert is beyond talented and knows how to do a demo. This is exactly the kind of Photoshop meetup I go to these for. Thanks for a really great, inspirational, instructional meeting.

Bert is absolutely amazing. His work has extraordinary detail. Words can't express it properly. You have to see it to believe it!

Amazing speaker. Contrary to what I was expecting, like just another artist who is skilled at doing some kind of art using Photoshop. My impression after observing is that he is someone who has great organizational skills about his trade. For his artistic crafts, he is able to utilize Photoshop to it's utmost, and to this day still manages to push it to it's limits. He showed amazing examples of his art, and they are all on a grandiose scale somewhat.

Bert is amazing, by far the most talented Photoshop artist that I have ever seen. I also appreciate that he is very generous with his knowledge. He obviously loves to share his discoveries. Great meeting.

He covered a lot of useful information in a short amount of time and everything that he talked about was very interesting. I will definitely make use of the tricks that I learned during this meetup. I wasn't aware of all the 3D capabilities in CS4 and I am now thinking about upgrading from CS3.

Bert Monroy was wonderful speaker!! I really enjoyed learning his Photoshop techniques.

Bert obviously knows a lot of tricks. Many were in relation to CS4, which I do not own yet. Because of this I was a bit frustrated and was hoping for more basic stuff. How much can he convey in a one hour lecture anyway? His book will be a great resource for me.
  • Michael Franks
    Fun and inspirational.

Bert was great. I'm kind of wondering why Adobe chose to put all this 3D functionality into Photoshop, since other programs already do it better, but the presentation was good overall. He is an amazing guy. The raffle prizes were pretty sweet, too.

    he's the best!

He is obviously an extraordinary professional. I was impressed, then amazed, then astonished... halfway thru I was dumbfounded; 3/4 of the way, overwhelmed and by the time he was finished, I was totally exhausted and brain dead.

I had no idea you could do the things Bert demonstrated!
