Bert never ceses to amaze me with all his knowledge and creativity of what he can do with Photoshop. I may never use a lot of these tricks, but if I walk away with one thing I can use, I'm ahead.

Thanks Paul and Andrys for your replies. FYI- There have been a number of MeetUps that were broadcast "virtually" in the past , so needless to say I was hoping for the same. Have a good weekend !

    1 · June 15, 2013

  • David E.

FYI - I posted a question before the meeting and no one got back to me. Because of my disability , I asked if there was an online method to attend. Who is monitoring this ?

    June 15, 2013

    • Paul P.

David, I think the only person that may be able to answer your question is Marie Macaspac, the meetup organizer. You should be able to contact her through the Meetup page for this particular Meetup. However, because of Adobe's restrictions about video recording on their premises, I don't hink this option is available. But you should definitely contact Marie in case I'm wrong.

David, in this message thread, Marie wrote two days ago, "We are not planning to broadcast this presentation." (Of course that plan could change.) But she said that he has many demos on things like this available on http://lynda.com which offers a 7-day free-trial ...

More than I expected. The Designer portion of the presentation was great. Has inspired me to learn much more of Photoshop than I thought I needed.

How can I "make sure" that my name is on the "list" of attendees ?

    1 · June 13, 2013

    • Sharon S.

by the way Marie—I was RSVP yes as soon as I got the first notice, and my badge wasn't there. NO problem, just letting you know in case it's important for you to know that.

      June 14, 2013

    • Bob S.

My name was also on the list, but no badge. I don't know what made the difference, but organization was totally lacking this time, compared to previous events I've attended there.

The "FREE" trial on Lynda.com/bertmonroy is NOT really FREE. It wants me to sign up for a $ 25.00 per month or $ 37.50 per month AFTER the 7 day FREE trail. In my mind this is NOT free.

    Here is the link:

    • Neil T.

OK, that sounds good. I will "try" this "free-offer".

      1 · June 14, 2013

    • Sharon S.

Neil make sure to set a calendar alarm or some reminder to cancel before you're charged—they will email you, but you never know when that important email gets eaten by gremlins.

Thanks to everyone who joined us last night! Bert and Zorana both showed us amazing features and pure Photoshop skill!
As mentioned last night, feel free to send me any suggestions for speakers or topics for future meetups. I received a few great suggestions last night, so thank you. Special thanks to Sharon Steuer for giving me a copy of her book, "The Adobe Illustrator CS6 WOW Book!"

    See you all again soon!

Yes! I am learning this from Lynda.com, as we speaking..the door bell rang and I just got my Wacom Intuos tablet, just now! I am so excited! Maybe we can have Sharon do a workshop for us! I am so glad to join this group, I am both inspired in the aspect of Art and teaching( I am a teacher) and am looking forward for our future meetups.

      June 14, 2013

    • Sharon S.

hi All. Glad to do a workshop but I actually never turn photos into paintings… I do make art in Photoshop by combining photos and drawings and paintings, and using blending modes and collaging things, and making quick collages to use as references for paintings or illustrations…but I think if what you want to do is make a photo look as if it's painted, you can experiment with some of the cool filters in the Filter Gallery?

P.S. Everyone—when you're at lynda.com checking out Bert's courses, while on your 7 day free trial check out my "Artistic Painting with Illustrator: Natural Media Brushes"—you'll be surprised how painterly Illustrator can be! www.sharonsteuer.com/lynda or directly at lynda www.lynda.com/sharonsteuer

Excellent workshop, great meet-up place, learned a lot and please invite Bert back to do this again with more fun tricks and techniques!

Thanks and I promise I will pass on the request to Bert! I bet he gets this all the time!

      June 14, 2013

  • Neil T.

I enjoyed the information. Bert's question about, "How many of you photographers make money doing photography ?" may have been a "little" out of line. But he did answer the question, when I asked him if he made made money on the fog layers. grin.

    • Josh

I thought it was extremely relevant. Knowing who your audience is comprised of dictates how and what you will speak about. As one of those people who make a living off my photography and even more so, my retouching, I will find different parts of a presentation relevant whereas perhaps an amateur might find other parts relevant. :-)

Thanks to Zorana, Bert and all of the organizers. That was some pretty spectacular stuff we saw!

Exciting evening and inspirational. I've seen Burt before but he always inspires. I'm basically a photographer but his presentations are always looking to push PS to the max. Zorana was good too. With all the new features its hard to keep up.

First time seeing Bert and he did not disappoint!
Looking forward to seeing more from him and I will definitely check
    out his Lynda classes.

I'll shamefully admit right here that I have a few… ok a lot of images that can use the new shake reduction tool. Looking forward to this class!

    • Marie M.

haha me too!! what an awesome new feature!

      June 14, 2013

  • Dave T.

Fantastic as usual! Next time Bert is there I'm going to sit closer and record his presentation on my phone as I never remember all that I've seen when I get home.

If anybody's got a video of his presentation, care to share? =)

    June 14, 2013

    • Marie M.

I believe Bert has many of his demos like the ones last night on lynda.com and pixelperfect. Since we all have a free 7 day trial, we should check it out!

      June 14, 2013

  • Tony

This was a great event. I do similar type work on PS, but Bert's mastery blows my efforts away! I'm now motivated to try some of the new features in PS.

Extremely informative meeting, got a lot out of both presentations (although would have liked to see a few more Photoshop CC features).

Bert showed some powerful features and would love to see more of his projects.and Zorna did a wonderful job on photoshop cc. and hope to see more.and a great group of photoshop people to be with and enjoy the food and drinks.

interesting... CC... clear and concise. Bert opened me to pushing more buttons. I'm a visual artist with photography as my main medium. I loved seeing his work and his process; plus he makes it all fun. It would be great to have him back again to show the pieces he didn't get to and I'm sure he'll have more by then. Thank you so much for this opportunity.

Can we attend " virtually " on line instead of physically needing to be there tonight ? Kind of like the way Kelly sometimes conducts her Meetups/

Hi folks! PLEASE NOTE - If you RSVP'd AFTER 10:00am WEDNESDAY, you will need to give your name and ID at the front desk to get a name badge. We hope that those interested in our topic and speakers will consider attending in person, if possible! We are not planning to broadcast this presentation. Thanks and see you soon!

Another great meetup is http://www.meetup.com... where they go over a lot of new features of Lightroom 5, workflows and interactions with Photoshop. Joing the group and look under the discussions for recorded past meet ups. LR5 has some pretty exciting stuff added - you can D/L the beta for free. Still not a replacement for photoshop.
