Does anyone know if there is parking available at Adobe?

Easy street parking. I usually go to 7th street on the side of Adobe. Always there.

We're coming in from Sausalito. There are two seats available, if anyone from Marin wants to carpool. We'll be leaving at about 5:45. Reply at info@shalomormsby.com if so.

Hey, Richard, how about you let the organizers know privately how you feel instead of dissing the people who brought you the pizza and drinks and gave an interesting presentation to the rest of us?

Zorana and Ivan, great job on your presentations. They were helpful, inspiring, and got me all fired up to do all kinds of crazy things with all the new features in PS CS5.

Richard, I respectfully disagree about your recent post. I enjoyed the Webvanta presentation, as I found it relevant to my needs as a photographer. We all need websites to showcase our work, and Webvanta's offering is an interesting option, IMO.

I am sorry for my insensitive remark. I will be more careful next time. I was excited to hear about CS5 and previous presentations were supposed to be limited to 5 minutes. The meeting was outstanding; I should have been more patient.

We usually need 2-3 sponsors to fund this monthly event. Pizza alone can be over $700 for 250 people that we had RSVP tonight. Webvanata was our only food sponsor besides adobe this month, so instead of listening to 3, 5 minute pres. webvanta got 15 minutes to explain what they have to offer. If you wish to have shorter or no sponsor message please let us know if you have other ideas on how we can offer the food and drinks that people at our meeting have come to expect. We are open to them.

damn, it is only pizza. The Main point is that the message was great for many of us that need to know what the latest and greatest is going to be... I would have chipped in 10.00 for pizza. Fyi costco is around the corner and pizzas are 10.00 a piece..

I loved the meetup and will be telling more about it...

I'm going to join those who think that dissing a sponsor who ponied up for pizza and drinks for all of us is not good form. I understand that a company like Webvanta has a reasonable expectation of getting visibility in front a group when they contribute in this way. I guess that any who don't want to hear the preso could just come a few minutes later...

Marie Macaspac and Luke Kilpatrick (who also hosts the Fireworks "Fire on the Bay" Group) do a standup job in organizing this group. The two speakers , Zorana Gee and Ivan Belaunde brought a great presentation, and just made me want to upgrade to CS5 even more. Lastly, Webvanta's presentation was helpful to me, as I can do a pretty good job of hand-coding in HTML and CSS, but in no way consider myself a developer. Thank you to all, for an exciting evening.

When a sponsor is being given an extended time slot to talk about their product or service, it would be nice to let the audience know. When you expect a 3-5 minute presentation, and it extends past 10 minutes it seems like the sponsor is taking forever. When you properly set expectations, then we will know what is going on and not be so impatient. :-)

It would also be nice if you could start the sponsor presentation earlier - e.g. from 6:45 to 7:00, so we have more time for the main talk.

Tip for sponsors: Show a looping slideshow instead of a static page as people are filing in, finding seats, getting food. The screen has our attention - don't leave us staring at a boring static page of text, tell us about your product or service!

Zorana and Ivan were great. Only goes to show how CS5 is a must have! Also, thank you to Webvanta for their presentation AND the feed. (Golly, why make the guy feel like 2 cents waiting for change? 5 minutes or 10, his product is worth a look! Myself, I thought it was rather cool.) And many thanks to Marie and Luke for this meetup. Well worth the time. Looking forward to future meets.

i can't believe how some people are so unappreciated. you give your time and free food and they want something more. otherwise, kudos to the sponsor, speakers and the organizers for your time. photoshop cs5 is uber awesome!

I didn't mind the sponsor presentation--I thought it was appropriately brief & interesting, and though I didn't have any this time, when it comes to food (at a free event!), I'm definitely for it. Having not much experience with either, the one thing I would have liked to understand better is how (or if) Webvanta fits with Fireworks so I could make appropriate recommendations to those I work with that do use these kinds of technologies...

@Steve I am not sure how web Vanta would work with Fireworks. In my mind it would probably work better as Fireworks is a better tool for laying out websites and working with multiple pages than photoshop.

I appreciated the opportunity to present and realize that standing between you and the CS5 demo was frustrating for some.

If you would would like to see the demo of how it all works, please join one of our webinars (www.webvanta.com/webinars) where we have the time to go through the details.

To answer the Fireworks question, we're happy to accept Fireworks files as well. We've even built sites from InDesign files.

I can't wait to get Photoshop CS5 myself! The demo was fantastic.

I appreciate how much ground got covered as quickly as it did for the new Photoshop. It is a major release with a tremendous number of enhancements and well thought out tool sets. I also appreciate the folks who put this all together, including the sponsor. It embarrasses me that some of the participants complain about the sponsor or a looping slide show. For a free event this was well organized and executed. While there is always room for improvement, some of the comments showed a complete disregard for all the things that went well last night. I have started saving my pennies for CS5. I did not think CS4 was worth the jump, but CS5 is an order of magnitude above my current CS3. Good job and congratulations to the development team for really making the product better.

Zorana gave a great presentation, and the details on giving content-aware fill hints were very helpful--amazing feature! Repousse and other 3D capabilities are great too...can't wait to try them out!

The speakers focused on the "magic" so it was both fun and amazing at times. Besides the magic, they knew their stuff.

A great look at what's new in Photoshop CS5. Loved the explanation of the tech behind "Content-Aware Fill", will definitely improve my use of it.

Great Program! Thanks to Adobe and the sponsors for such a great program.

Nice overview of some of the newer & cooler features of PS CS5. The JDI features though I kept thinking "nike" everytime I heard you say it... Good development plan though to try to roll in easy nice-to-have's if they are easy enough to do.
  • Teresa Roberts
Photoshop CS5 is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I like it to the gap between drawing on rocks and then pen and paper. Zorana showed us so much cool stuff, you couldn't wait to get your hands on it. Then Iván showed us Content Aware and he was one of the five main people. Totally cool! Thanks again.
  • Linda L.
Better than other CS5 demos I've been to!
