"Panorama Stitching in CS4" with Lisa Yimm

A photographer and VFX artist with a BFA in Photography, Lisa is the co-founder of HDR-VFX, based in Nyack, NY. Last year, she spent over 7 months on the road shooting HDR panorama-based virtual tours of Lexus Dealships across the US.

We also will be announcing our winner for the Design contest for a new Photoshop Till You Drop website.

The contest is for the creation of both a logo and a site home page design.

The winner of the contest will get a full copy of Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium CS4
(US$1,799 Value!)

The specs on the design are must look good on a 1024x768 monitor, and be easy for me to turn into CSS and HTML.

Please take a look at http://www.fireontheb... and use the same site architecture.

As for content please see http://www.meetup.com... for meeting info.

As for images, or links right now I don't have any as I am only looking for a layered psd with the site layout that looks good at 1024 x 768 as well as a separate psd with only the logo.

Since photoshop's main color is blue, you might want to work within that pallet.

In November 2007, Fire On The Bay, The SF Fireworks User Group ran a similar contest.
Please check out http://www.fireontheb... to see the winning entry.

The winner for this contest will be selected at the March 2009 meeting.
Please email luke at [masked] if you have any questions.

Lisa's presentation was pretty fascinating since stitching photos is new in my world of Photoshop. He explained her process as simple as she could without getting overly technical. She was very knowledgeable and also very open to speaking with you after she was done with her presentation.

Excellent! Invite her again in the future.

Lisa was knowledgeable and interesting, an excellent speaker. I enjoyed her presentation. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay for the whole thing b/c the sponsors took too much time at the beginning. You don't have to bribe us with food and drinks! I'd rather go straight to great Photoshop info.

    Very informative and inspiring!

The meeting was informative but too much time was spent on the 2 commercial presentations.

First, we were not told that pizza would be served, so most of us ate dinner before the meeting. Very few did eat, and a lot of food went to waste. If publicized ahead of time, the food time can be used to network. I suggest that in the future, the announcements provide a food notice. The "commercials" were uninspiring, rushed but, yet, the both felt overly long. Lisa's presentation seemed to be directed at PS users who had not used the pano stitcher feature before. As a photographer CS4 user, I was hoping for less of an overview and more of a detailed presentation of how to use the stitcher creatively, what the various options are, and when to use them.

The meeting started at 7:10 and the first 30 minutes were taken up by the two sponsors. Skip the 2 pieces of pizza and start the meeting on time. I didn't drive 50 miles each way to hear 30 minutes about pbwiki and someone's gadget.

best so far, insightful and plentiful of fantastic examples

I loved it! Maybe because I had no idea you could do that stitching and blending of a batch of random photos automatically in Photoshop. I can't wait to try it out. Thanks!

very talented and knowledgeable enjoyed it quite a bit.

    Great presentation from Lisa.

Lisa was great, she had some wonderful info to share and her images and process were very impressive. My only complaint is that the sponsors went long (and I hate to complain at all because they were great and it was very nice of them to buy the refreshments) so I had to leave to catch my train before Lisa finished and the Q & A. :(

I thought it was great, thanks for putting it together. The only things I would suggest is publishing what sponsors will be presenting along with their topics and what the timeframes for the presentations (including end time) are expected to be.

excellent information, can't wait to try it at home!
  • Mike Jensen
It was very good. I wish it had started on time so that Lisa could have spent more time on her presentation, since it seemed like she had more to show and say.
  • Calvin Lee
Thanks for presentation. I'm going take lots of pictures and try the new feature in Photoshop. BTW, did someone forget to turn off the light? It was a little hard to see.

The introduction and sponsors lasted a full 45 minutes. It was difficult to get through, to be honest. Also, if she could have saved explanations of concepts for when the computer was processing the image data, it would have been much better. As it was, there was explanation, then a lot of waiting for the computer to process. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay for the entire thing. I really enjoyed what I saw of Lisa's talk (aside from the downtime). I was sad that I couldn't stay for the whole thing.
