Job Description

Imaging Specialist
Apple Graphic Design Group

The Imaging Specialist in Apple’s Graphic Design Group performs a variety of tasks to
support creative staff. He or she supports design staff in retouching and compositing
photography, visualizing cutting edge solutions to design problems and creating
artwork in Photoshop and Cinema 4D for use on conceptual layouts. They need to have
a thorough working knowledge of Photoshop CS4 and Cinema 4D. They should also be
familiar with Illustrator CS4.
The specialist also prepares art to strict standards and sizes for use in sales and keynote
presentations, as well as for web, worldwide sales, PR, and marcom support. Given this, a
technical understanding of how files compress and how to get them ready for the web,
is essential.
The Imaging Specialist ideally has a college degree and a minimum of 5 years
experience in a marketing or advertising agency or in-house design department. He or
she is expert with Adobe Photoshop, advanced in other illustration and layout
applications, and knowledgeable on Apple products, OS X, color management, serverbased
workflows, and image asset catalogs. The specialist may also have advanced
expertise in prepress, photography, painting, 3D rendering, and other visual arts.
Imaging work is typically done within small teams under tight deadlines, so strong
communication skills are required, as well as coolness under pressure, resourcefulness,
ingenuity in solving problems, dependability, attention to detail, and the ability to learn
and cope with rapid change. Not least, the position requires the specialist to be
dedicated to Apple’s high standards of quality.
The Senior Imaging Specialist typically leads a Photoshop sub-specialty, such as
prepress, advanced visualization, or retouching. He or she may consult with design staff
to provide an expanded visual palette and improved workflow, perform quality
assurance, communicate directly with vendors, and develop guidelines and templates.
The senior specialist ideally has at least 7 years of experience in the field, and highly
advanced skills with Photoshop and Cinema 4D.
