Lightroom Workshop

Adobe Lightroom is the go-to processing tool of professional photographers around the world, and with good reason.  It is fast, powerful, incredibly versatile, and totally non-destructive.  Lightroom 4 and 5 both use the Adobe Camera Raw Process 2012, which is a major improvement in Raw processing.  Lightroom is different from Photoshop, being simpler but with its own learning curve.  This workshop will show you the basic tools in the Develop module, and show you some tricks to make your images "pop". This will be a "hands on" workshop, and it is best if participants bring their laptops loaded with Lightroom 4 or 5.

Please go to http://southernlightphoto.com/jcarsten/ and download IMG_7503.CR2.  We will be processing this image in the workshop.

We will begin by getting our monitors calibrated.  Please download http://southernlightphoto.com/jcarsten/Monitor%20Calibration%20Tools.jpg

Lightroom is a hard program to learn from a short workshop. The organizer tried his best to cover the basics.

For portrait work I use Photoshop or Portrait Pro which is very intuitive.

I learned more about my newest software. Thanks Jeff you made it easy. I'm finding like you that Lightroom is a bit touchy when it comes to where you place your photos but I think I will eventually get it. Thanks to Candido too for a couple of "helps"

Will this program work on an older computer?

    March 5, 2014

    • Lisa

Kris - I don't know if you have already purchased the program but I've heard that adobe has a promotional deal for $10 per month which gives you Lightroom, photoshop, and some cloud storage. The programs work from the cloud so that may be an option if your computer won't handle the program.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
