Cliffs, Ocean and Lighthouses - the Southern Coast of Maine- Workshop

  • Aug 11, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join the group as we head out to the stunning but easily accessible coast of Southern Maine.

We will spend a full day photographing in and around York and Ogunquit - we will do some cliff walking (easy) and make detours to such interesting places as the wiggly bridge in York and end at Nubble light just as the sun begins to go down.

We will stop for food in Perkins Cove where you can send some time exploring the quaint shops and the drawbridge which crosses the harbor.

There will be lots of instructional advice from Ian and some optional exercises.

As usual we will keep the group size down to eight so you will get plenty of care and attention.

York Maine is just 90 minutes drive from Boston and it has some very interesting and photogenic places to explore including a Harbor Walk in York Village that is sure to provide plenty of subject matter.

Nubble light is a regular haunt for photographers but you must be there just before the sun goes down in order to get the best shots.

Perkins Cove is a collection of old fishing shacks that have been converted into small stores and cafes around the old fishing harbor. Here we can pick up the easy cliff walk known as Marginal Way.

There are numerous benches on which to relax and rest your legs. We are also invited to  stop by the Stonecrop Photography gallery that is holding the opneing reception of their ceel phonbe photography exhibit. I took a look at it yesterday and it is totally inspirational.

Cost is just $75  per person and includes a full day of instruction from Ian. We will meet at 10am in York Maine or 7am in the Weymouth/ Boston area if you are car pooling and we expect to return around 8pm.

Please note that the Stolen Menu Cafe does not encourage groups at the weekend so we will meet outside on the parking lot.

I can take three other people with me in my car, I am willing to meet up at the Bertucci's in Woburn (17 Commerce Way Woburn, MA 01801) at 8:30 a.m. on that Sunday morning. We can ride up from there. (According to Google, it should take one hour to get there.)

We can park under the garage, making transfer of equipment a bit easier in case it is a bit moist. :)

I will take the first three people that tell me that they want to ride along.

Thanks Dena and Frank. Really appreciate you offering the ride. Bertuccis in Woburn is fairly close to me. So I'll meet you there at 8:20 am Sunday. And I'll see You Dena in Maine for a great shooting experience ;)
