The March "PlugIn" Fest! - Piedmont Bloggers March Meetup

By Popular Demand!!!

The March Meetup will be all about PLUGINS!  We will start by reviewing how to find, install, setup and add plugins to your blog.  Then we'll talk about some of our favorites and why we like them.

There is a plugin for almost anything you want to do on your Wordpress site, so come see how you can step up your game.

"What the heck is a plugin?" - if that was your response and you blog, you really need to be at this meetup.

Thanks to Our March Food Sponsor!

Jason Shriner, The Aubergine Chef, will be our food sponsor for the March Meetup.  Thanks Jason!

Come Join us for the Piedmont Bloggers March Meetup!   If you are a veteran seeking ideas, a newbie struggling to start (or re-start) your blog, or somebody who works with bloggers, this is the meetup to attend!  Bring a friend.

We will be meeting at Sigma Business Management located in the Prince William Chamber Gainesville Business Resource Center.  Refreshments will be provided.

In Preparation! (But come even if you can't prepare)

- GO HERE and read a few blogs from your fellow bloggers to familiarize yourself.

- Be sure to comment :-)

- Write at least one blog post of your own.

- Be ready to share and discuss.

RSVP Today - we limit the number of attendees to preserve our discussion-based format.

What to Bring

Please bring your experience, ideas and questions about why, when, how and for who you blog.

The Piedmont Bloggers is about learning, but it is also a support group!  Please try to read and comment on the blogs of other members. Click here to see a list of member blogs.  And if you have not yet published your first blog - NOW IS THE TIME!

New bloggers and wanna be bloggers are welcome to attend.  Although we list a topic, this is generally an open discussion on all aspects of blogging - blog content, search engine optimization, choosing topics, getting comments and blog design.  We also encourage each other by reading and commenting on each other's blogs.

See you there!

Suggest for next meeting "What to do when you have been hacked".

That would be a good one. My website was hacked and I had difficulty getting out of it. I'd love to share my story.

Great topic, since hacking seems to be at an all time high, and I recently have experienced it.

Does anybody know which plugin salesblog.com uses for their social media buttons up top? My theme places my social media buttons all the way at the bottom. What's the point of that? I'm not sure if we've talked Themes & Templates yet but that would be a good meeting too. I've only recently started playing around with templates.

I think Themes and Templates will be our next topic. The plugin I use for SM lets me place them in a widget. With the right theme you can place a widget area anywhere. I tlooks like he has a widget area placed over his header.

Thanks Jamie - I'll look into it. I've tweaked my blog's stylesheets a bit because I didn't realize how different it looked on Internet Explorer. Between having a Mac and using Firefox for the past 3 years I've been forgetting to check compatibility on IE!

Hi everyone! I realized I forgot to mention this during the last meeting but Robert McGlothlin and I are hosting a Cross-Chapter Networking mixer next Friday to celebrate Grassroots' Small Business Networking group's 1 year anniversary (and to benefit the Red Cross Prom). If you all could make it we would love to have you. There's more information here: http://www.facebook.com/events/414342078659252/

Missed the last two meetings - but want to make really sure I get to this one. Plug-ins remain a mystery to me.
