So we don't have pingpong event anymore?

Hi Michael and Eugene.

That sounds great.
I will appoint you as event organizer Michael… and Eugene too if that’s what you both want.

For now I will stay on as organizer … to give others the opportunity to host events in the community.
Realistically, I can see myself reassigning you as the main organizer in the next 6 months, since no one else seems to want to organize.

Two things to know about the ping pong meetups (true of most meetups in general)
1.  There are always no-shows.

2.   Many members don’t want to pay to play ping-pong. Many members will buy food and drink. Some will not.

I think there are enough members in the group who will be fine paying to play … along the lines of what it might cost to play pool.

It is irritating that many members will come to play and not contribute anything to the establishment.

You have a business to run … and by posting the $ it will cost to play at an event hosted by Pips and Bounce, people will know they need to pay.

Those willing to pay to play are also more likely to buy food and drink.

I figure you will have a way to address these two points, and however you want to do it is fine with me.

In the event you become the group’s main organizer …
Recently Meetup implemented a three tier system of payment.

The middle tier is
Unlimited memberships for a group has a yearly fee of $180 … but allows the payer up to three groups.

The premium tier is more $ … not sure how much … and it allows promotional advertisements and other features I have not looked into.

The base tier allows for a maximum of 50 group members.

I have a guitar meetup group so I will continue to pay the fee for now. I no longer host the singles group I was organizing … but I could put you in contact with the current organizer of the 45ish Singles Gathering group … Cherie … and you would probably get interest from that group as well. That group probably has 400 active members.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for making your ping pong meetups a success for so many years. We’d be delighted to take up the baton and undertake the responsibility of organizing and hosting regular ping pong meetups going forward.

We’d like to experiment with different times and days to give everyone a chance to partake in the fun. Just let us know if there are any particular things we need to do/know as hosts, and we’ll make things happen. Maybe we could even meet up sometime to get the full download from you. Thanks!

Cheers,
Michael

Hi All,

My time has been consumed by other things in my life … including a girlfriend of 5 months, cataract surgery, and other things.

I have received requests from members re “When is the next event?”

I guess it will be when the next one is posted. Hopefully in June.

We have had others lead events … but I can only guess that their lives are as busy as mine since no one else has posted an event.

Anyway, I will get around to it someday … but after hosting events for two years … and attending them for four years … other things now take most of my time.

There are many members who have attended multiple events, and if any of them would like to organize an event, I can assign you as a host … and give you tips on what works best for me when I have hosted one.

If you look around at other meetup groups … most of them have multiple active event organizers.

I remembered to change the email setting ... so replies come back to me, and are not sent to the entire group.

Thanks,

Chris Gardner
