No introduction yet
Born in Quezon City. Raised in Michigan. Stopped speaking Tagalog when my 2nd grade class laughed at me for singing "Bahay Kubo" during Show & Tell. Now trying to get the language back and create a community of "my peeps".
I can still sing a little of "Bahay Kubo" as well as number of other filipino songs. Plus I'm friendly.
A big dinner table surrounded by lots of Pinoy Pals. Also reading, dessert and sleep (lots of each!)
Thanks Arlene! I will definitely make my way to Sunburst once I am settled in. Looking forward to meeting all of you!
Thanks Arlene. Yes! tried out Sunburst, found some comfort home food in this cold weather. My family in Tacloban are alive and well, sadly their homes need rebuilding.
I never been to a meetup and I'm new to this website. Would you please give me some insight or what to expect.
Hi, Arlene! Thank you for your greeting. I am excited to meet you & the rest of the group. About the language, no worries at all! I grew up in the Philippines so I am well-versed in Tagalog. About the joy question, no, I was not being sarcastic. That is my true nature, as expressed by my family & friends. ;)
Thanks, Arlene! It was a nice event, and I enjoyed it; I wish I brought some other people with me that day though since I didn't really know anyone. I appreciated how friendly some of the vendors were. I've been telling other people who appreciate Filipino culture about this event though, and so perhaps they might check out other events in the future!
Thank you for the welcome. This seems like a very inviting group and it would be nice to hang with others like myself who miss their extended clans that are not in Colorado. All I intended was to find some folks my mom could play mahhjong and go to Black Hawk with so she wouldn't get lonely, and I end up finding a group much like myself! :-) And man, do I miss the Filipino food!
Thanks Arlene :) See you soon!
I am very excited.
