Introduction

I am an IT professional of 24 years in Corp America engaging in the startup community. I have some developer experience and as an entrepreneur.

What title would you like: 'Developer' (want to get involved in a startup), 'Entrepreneur' (want to pitch a startup idea), 'Developer/Entrepreneur' (both)?

I work with students internationally to better prepare them for their careers while they are in school. We work on projects needed by the entrepreneurial community.

[Developer Question] What types of tech development do you do? (languages/frameworks used, software for web, mobile, server, etc.)

I have worked in Java and Ruby on Rails as well as front end HTML and some Javascript.

[Developer Question] What kinds of startups are you interested in? (I ask this question because we may try and focus some meetups on certain types of startups)

I am particularly fond of social entrepreneurial opportunities. Startups that truly add value to people and communities get my attention. I am also interested in helping the entrepreneurs who are less likely to attract seed money.

[Entrepreneur Question] Are you ready to pitch or will be ready within the next six months?

No

[Entrepreneur Question] We're looking for people who are ready to pitch a startup idea. Tell us a little bit about your idea and how much work has gone into it. (No need for sensitive details, just looking to get a sense of how developed the idea is)

I am currently developing a platform to motivate kids in key social areas such as education, community service and physical exercise. The startup is built on the concept of establishing a community for parents to draw from that engage kids in ways that result in meaningful rewards.

What Steve Lynch is saying about this Meetup Group

I think it is a fantastic idea. One that I can see myself participating on either side (as an entrepreneur or programmer). The meeting date conflicts with some other big meetups like BDNT and Boulder Java User Group which is a bummer that forces a choice each month. Maybe creating a more structured format for presenters that ensure they are clear about what they need. Sometimes a little difficult to hear the quieter presenters. I think this has the potential to grow and fill a gap getting entrepreneurs and developers together. I am eager to see it grow.
