Tea Picnic in Schenley Park, Labor Day

This is our first Tea Picnic. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, Frisbee, ball, cheer, and of course some TEA: hot or iced cold, and your favorite teacup. Creativity encouraged. I will bring some paper cups too, just in case, and some Irish Biscuits. If it rains, event will be postponed. Here is a map with MeetUp area marked with a Teacup. Guests are welcome!

    Good Morning Tea Fanatics,
We are still getting ready for Tea Picnic today, despite of the clouds and forcast..If it starts to rain really bad, around 12:30-1pm, we are going to move our Meetup to Phipps Cafe (downstairs) for 1:30pm.
You don't need admission ticket to get in cafe.
    Hope to see you soon!

Just checked the forecast, looks like 60% chance of rain tomorrow. :( Frankly, I may not come in any case, I'm worn out from the last three days. Did well in my race yesterday, finished the 5K in 36:00.1. Then made a spur of the moment trip down to Bluefield (2 hours south of Charleston) for a baseball game .... I was basically awake for 20 hours straight yesterday, and then had the long drive home today.

    Edward,
Wow, you have a busy weekend! Don't worry about bringing tea. I am sure we are going to have enough to share with you!
I will bring a cooler with ice and a large pitcher of Lady Hannah fruit tea to the picnic. :)

Good Luck with your race, Curtis! Just keep in mind that if it rains, we will have to postpone our picnic.

Hi Amanda, Iam glad you are coming! No big preparations needed..lol Just bring your own tea in a thermos or travel mug, and possibly pretty teacup. It feels awesome to drink tea from a teacup sitting on the blanket in a park! Some will bring snacks, but lets try to keep it simple. Also bring blanket or lawn chair.

Need to do some prep work (i.e. making iced tea) on Thursday since I am going down to Charleston Friday through Sunday.

This will be the first event that I am going to with this group. What can I expect? Do I have to bring anything?

    August 26, 2013

  • Margaret H.

To make it easier, i suggest that everyone just brings tea for themselves in a thermos, or a travel mug, and maybe pour it to some pretty teacup, or your favorite mug.

Any suggestions on how to carry sufficient amounts of tea without just using a 20 ounce thermos? I admit this will be the first time I end up sharing tea at not my apartment

Sorry Margaret, but I will be out of town for the long weekend, so I will not be able to make it to this meetup. Have fun everyone.

I'll brew up some of my favorite tea that day - will have to be a surprise since I haven't decided yet. Will also bring a salad to share.

I will bring some home-made cookies/biscuits and some ice tea flavored by fresh mint. This is my first time and I look forward to it.
