First Meet-up: Let's get together and talk about our Art.

As the new organizer I scheduling our first meet-up. I think we started out with an initial core of talented photographers. We have also gained several new members that I have not had the opportunity to meet yet. This will give us all a chance to meet and get to know as many members as we can. I really want to make this mean something, but that takes participation. I would really like all 57 of you to attend. I know that probably wont happen, but I can dream.
The meet-up will be at Vincent's in Greentree at 7:00, Thursday, July 11.
I want to keep this casual and relaxed. If you want, you can arrive a little early and get something to eat, the food is pretty good. I hope everyone will make it.

Is there any way, just curious, that small meeting minutes could be posted for those of us who could not attend the meetings, but wanted to, so that we too can be included as well?

I enjoyed meeting everyone and look forward to more "art" and "photography," thanks for being so welcoming to a relatively (6 years) photographer.

I think this first meet up went well. The people that attended showed a real interest in the direction for this group.

I heard comments about what is and what is not. To quote, "Photography is both an art and a science. Photography allows us to express our feeling and emotions, but to do so we need to master the scientific part of the medium.
The scientific aspects of photography can be both overwhelming and fascinating, for some it comes to be just that. However, to achieve mastery of the technical side of photography is to address only one of the two aspects of photography. The result is often technically excellent photographs that lack emotion and "seeing" qualities. In this regard, I share the opinion of Ansel Adams who said that there is nothing more boring that a technically perfect rendering of a fuzzy visual concept. In other words, an artistic photograph is created when technique is used to express a vision AND an emotion, not when technique is used for it's own sake."

I hope to get the group's help in realizing MY vision of the scene.

I'm in Duquesne and a PAT rider so this isn't something I can do without a car. But I look forward to events in the city.

I would love to, but since I have no car, I have to stick to events that are either in Shadyside, Oakland, Pittsburgh or the South Side.

I'm in. I just hope Art doesn't get a complex with everyone talking about him.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
