Safety is of utmost importance to current members of the group, as we hope it is to you, and we will all feel better knowing that we belong to a reasonably secure group. We can't live in a bubble, and there will always be a certain degree of risk in anything that we do, but we are all about minimizing that risk.
For the safety of all involved, we have a Safety and Verification Policy! You must follow our verification process in order to be approved for membership to the Pittsburgh Attachment Parenting Community.
The first step in the process is submitting your Meetup profile, providing answers to our five profile questions. Next, upload and set your profile photo to be a photo of YOURSELF. This photograph must appear as your PRIMARY photo on the Pittsburgh Attachment Parenting Community page. A photo of you helps us locate you at meetups and ensure that you are "real".
Once you have submitted your profile and photo, you will be contacted via email by one of the Organizers. Expect this email within several days to a week. It may go to your SPAM folders, so check your folders/filters as necessary. If you haven't heard from us in 2 weeks, you might want to use the "contact" button on the left side of the home page, to make sure that you haven't missed our email.
This email will welcome you to our group. It is necessary that you reply to this email. In addition, if you already know someone (in real life) in the group who can vouch for you, just ask them to email one of the organizers and let us know. A current member who can vouch for you will expedite our verification process and save us all a bit of computer time!
Until you have been "verified", you will remain on "Pending Member" status, and will not have access to the rest of the website (which includes the Calendar, Member Profiles, Message Board, etc.)
Once you have been verified, you will be "officially accepted" into the group and be given immediate access to the entire site.
There will be no exceptions to this important safety policy. If you have not been verified after remaining on the "Pending Members" list for a month, you will be denied membership to the group.
NOTES: If you are denied membership because lack of verification and later would like to reapply, please do! If circumstances make it so you are unable to fulfill any of these requirements, but still want to apply for membership, please let an organizer know so that we can work with your situation.
A note about health & safety at meetups: It is our goal to keep all of our members healthy and safe at meetups. Please be courteous to others and keep illnesses home.
