PBU Meetup

Hi All,

Apologies for the 11th hour nature of this update. I'd not managed to get ahold of The Beerhive to confirm our party until late. I seem to be slipping.

I will make efforts to schedule our next meetup whilst we're there.

As per usual the meetup is upstairs at the Beerhive on a Wednesday evening. Unusual in the fact that it is a second Wednesday, not a first - and 6:30 and not 6. This is due to my work schedule. If you come early, feel free to tell the bartenders that you're there for the Bitcoin meetup and mozy upstairs to claim our space - I'll be along between 630 and 7.

There has been some talk of late on having meetups in a venue that would support a more intentional programme - with a speaker and keynote and whatnot. There was also some talk last month about those of us who are no longer students working with those who are to help support the development of student organizations - could be interesting.

I hope to see you there on Wednesday - and if not, stay tuned as I'm going to hopefully get back into the rhythm of scheduling these meetups more than a week-out for next month.

I thought this was a pretty decent piece PBS did on Bitcoin. They even use a bit of footage from Dan's documentary. http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-gains-mainstream-interest-outlier-appeal-closure-silk-road/

I'll also be there slightly after the published start-time, probably around 6:45. Anyone there earlier is encouraged to capture our regular spot.

Is 9PM too late to be showing up? Or will everyone be gone by then?

Yeah, I think we're generally on our way out if not gone by then.

I can't go, I'll be too busy working on the Pittsburgh Perl Workshop all week. I am in the cabal and doing a talk on perlsix. I still do not have my personal server infrastructure ready to support the bitcoin block chain. Sure I could someone else's infrastructure but it would be too much like be using a bank. Perhaps I should be using litecoin because I can't afford the proprietary hashing hardware.
