D3 and only D3

Sorry for the short notice, but had a good amount of people request a strictly D3 meetup. I will be talking about D3, data, and how to get data. This will include a short tutorial on how to parse Twitter as well. I am trying to schedule a more "visualization" related talk in September, but this should be viewed more as a simple, technical talk involving only D3. If you have projects you are interested in using D3, this would be a perfect time to talk about them. If you have a specific visualization in mind, please let me know and I can do a little homework on it beforehand. Look forward to seeing everyone!

Thought this article on the dangers of visualization done badly would be of interest to people: http://www.itworld.com/big-data/369226/data-visualization-beneficial-perilous

Some of the questions I had on creating my networks in d3 were answered. Time to push forward now.

Laid back. I had finally put a Greenspan DocumentTermMatrix into JSON adjacency matrix. Through independent reading, etc., I understand the relationships between representations of graphs, matrices, complex information and meta-data.

Sorry I did not make it - my car battery was dead when I went to leave work and didn't want to chance it would not start after the meeting.

Hope to be there on time, but I forget how iffy Squirrel Hill rush hour traffic can be . . .

I've been working in R to search Twitter and have built a word cloud so I am interested to see how you do it in D3 for comparison...

I know this week is a bit crazy for CMU and Pitt. Good luck to you for the start of the semester!

Since I missed the last lecture, will I be totally lost? If that's the case, I can give my spot :)

Nope, you should be fine :) I provide some examples in the last meetup (https://docs.google.co...) that you can use to start getting into the D3 groove. Bring questions and I will be happy to help!
