Redfin Blues Talk and 4 Mile Walk reopens as monthly event on April 1st

Please join us as we reopen our monthly Pittsburgh Environmentalist 12.0 Green Team get together.  This group's mission is "to promote and organize community educational programs and projects with an emphasis on environmentally friendly living."  We will meet at the 31st Street Bridge and Smallman Street on the front porch of the 31st Street Loft and hike over the bridge to Herrs Island. NOTE: If you do not feel like walking please meet at Redfin Blues at 7:30. There is ample free parking both at the loft and at Redfin.

This bridge recently reopened and will be renamed the William Raymond Prom Memorial Bridge, after a Vietnam War hero from Millvale. We will take the trail around Herrs Island, also known as Washingtons Landing, turning around on the Iron Bridge at the far end, then head back.  I plan on stopping on the way back at the outdoor cafe Redfin Blues for a cold drink, to discuss the mission of the group and get to know one another.

There is free parking available on Smallman Street and also under the 31st Street Bridge.  This will be an EASY city hike. There are LOTS of bunnies, birds and wildlife on the island, and chances are we will see some rowers out on the water. The view from the 31st Street Bridge is priceless!

Please share this with your friends and this is a family friendly, dog friendly (on leash please) event.

Bonnie

My husband just called from work with a schedule change. I won't be able to make it tonight now. I hope to meet everyone next month.

Looking forward to seeing all of you again. Jennifer thank you for sharing the video. Great find. Mark, I have had friends that save their "butts" as they do not decompose rapidly (the filter is the problem) ... great share.

I came across this site/company when I followed up on a radio spot talking about recycling cigarette butts. (who would imagine?) They seem to accept a number of items either not generally collectible, or with restrictions. And they offer "points" in their brigades for collection of selected materials for non-profits, schools, etc. Just wanted to share. Check it out.

I take it the scheduled meeting for 10-15 is off the table?
I'll admit to being disappointed in the hiatus. Was not aware this was to be a seasonal Meetup group. I can appreciate closing of Redfin necessitating a change in venue, but would think many venues would be open to 10-12 people meeting and consuming products of the establishment. And while we haven't found our voice or chosen a task/effort/focus yet, suspension of the group does little to finalize that goal. Best wishes to all.

I might be a little late to the meeting, hope that's alright?
