Pittsburgh Geek Out Days (PGODs) are semi-regular meetings of technologists to discuss software engineering, how to be rockstar programmers, trends in software, and anything else that people find interesting. We do this by following an Open Spaces (or unconference) format. We typically meet every other month on Saturday mornings. We don't have topics or speakers, though we will often have a word or two as "inspiration" (e.g. design). When we arrive, we will introduce the format, then anyone who wants to can propose topics to discuss as we build out the schedule together. We then have a series of sessions. In each session you go to the topic that's most interesting to you, stay as long as you feel you are contributing or learning, and leave when you are not. At the end of the morning, anyone who wants goes out to lunch. For more about the group, notes about past sessions and more, check out http://pghgeekoutday.com. Bill

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
