During the 1970s, the Italian film industry produced approximately 250 "Eurocrime" movies!
Those violent Italian “poliziotteschi” films of the 1970s which, at first glance, seemed to be rip-offs of American crime films like Dirty Harry, Serpico, or The Godfather, were really addressing Italian issues like the Sicilian Mafia and red terrorism. This documentary takes a look at the cop and gangster films that ruled Europe in that era. Many were rushed productions – stars performing their own stunts, stealing shots, no live sound – and there was, in fact, a bleed-over between real-life crime and movie crime. Great fun for lovers of action movies.
