JavaScript Unit Testing

Discuss popular Unit Testing frameworks and tools for automation. In addition, I'd like to have a healthy discussion on the pros and cons of the more popular frameworks and tools.

Indeed. I've already started threatening developers with violence this morning.

I mentioned an article I found thought-provoking about the pros and cons (both supplied from the same author) of using require JS combined with unit testing concerns...

Excellent talk. Richard was informative, enthusiastic, and fun. Great overview of Unit testing, QUnit, and Jasmine. Can't wait to start playing.

Good discussion of Unit testing in general and some specific examples with Javascript test frameworks (JUnit and Jasmine). Richard's *very* strong opinions on the topic were amusing, but also well received by the group. Looking forward to the next JS meetup!

Slides are up at here http://idiotcoder.com/JSUnitTesting/

I'll have the code samples up later this week. Thanks for coming.

Last-minute cancellation... working late at the office, unfortunately.

Slides are done. Sample tests written in QUnit and Jasmine. Trying to get the time to build some more tests out (to show different features in a more detailed manner) and get them automated before tomorrow.

I expect to start out the presentation at 6:30ish. There is a lot to present on this and I don't want to kill the time for discussion.

I've played a little with Mocha, but not enough to really say I'm using it. I have been debating it though. I spend most of my time with QUnit personally. I'll be looking forward to hearing about your experiences with Mocha and learning something new myself.

I currently use Mocha and Chai. Anyone using these also?

I have never been to this location, is there anything I need to know to find it?

In preparation to this topic, I'm writing a series of blog posts on Unit Testing in general on my blog (www.idiotcoder.com). Hopefully that will cover enough background that I can get down to business with JS specific Unit Testing issues.

I will be getting more in-depth on this one, as it's a topic that is very dear to my heart.
Tentatively, I'm thinking of going over what makes a good unit test, and going into how to write testable JS code. From there, I'll cover examples of testing in QUnit (my personal framework of choice) and Mocha or Jasmine. I may cover other frameworks, but I'm not sure how in-depth I'll go on them.

Of course, I'd like some discussion on all of the above also, but at least this gives people some idea what I'm intending on bringing from the outset.
