mongodb, couchdb, redis
Yes. Currently mysql, previously postgresql and oracle.
I've always dreaded the old problem (name escapes me now) of mapping to and from in-memory objects (especially ones with deep structures which contain collections of other objects) and tables. Also dealing with hierarchical data in RDBMSs can be both a pain or slow.
I'm a software engineer whose only database work experience involves RDBMSs although I've played around at home with some NoSQL stuff at home.
