Nicholas Z.
Group Organizer

Announcing a new Meetup for Pittsburgh PHP Developers Group!

What: Pittsburgh PHP Developers Group Monthly Meetup

When: Wednesday, July 7, 2010 6:30 PM

Panera Bread
3401 Blvd of the Allies (Oakland)
Pittsburgh, PA 15213

First, we'll still be meeting at the Panera bread -- I haven't had a chance to find a new/better venue.

July's Meetup will have FREE refreshments offered by Carlow University, in exchange for discussing their research project on open source projects with them. Here is a more complete write up.

Dr. Sherae Daniel from University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Rachel Chung from Carlow University, and doctoral student Pratyush Sharma from University of Pittsburgh are conducting a research project investigating turnover issues in Open-Source projects. They would like to join us for 30 minutes on Wednesday 7/7/10 and discuss their research with us. Specifically, they would like to have your feedback on their research plan, and hear your insights about participant turnover in Open-Source projects. Light refreshments will be provided.

If you have any questions about this study, please feel free to contact Dr. Rachel Chung at

Come on out and hang with other Pittsburgh PHP Developers. See you there.
Come meet other Pittsburgh-based PHP developers!

We offer presentations and discussion of interest to both beginners and more advanced developers.

The type of topics we cover are:
PHP Frameworks - Why, Why Not and Which One?
IDE's - Which tool do you use?
Using cURL to make the web your slave.
Useful *nix commands for PHP developers (you are using *nix, right)
And in breaking news, Microsoft has taken an interest in PHP. Come learn what improvements have been made to PHP 5.3 running on IIS.

We will also feature mentoring. Beginners, please bring along any code you are having trouble with. One of our more experienced developers would love to point you in the right direction.
