Looking for a few crazy Men/Women to make sure the New Year Starts off right! I've done this 7 of the last 8 years and look how I turned out! ;-)

Heads ups, you don't have to jump in yourself we need people to hold towels and laugh at us and TAKE PICS! (although the craziness is infective, if you are a towel holder about 80% jump in the next year!)

I'm doing the New Year's Polar Bear Plunge and might as well see who else is crazy enough to jump in the Monongahela on New Years Day with me.

Reminder Polar Bear Plunge is Sunday, New Years Day Jan 1st at Mon Warf at 9am official jump in is at 9:30. Buy a project bundle up T-shirt for $10. Usually about[masked] people this year might be more cause of the warm temps.

I'll be there in my Santa Hat and Red n Black Striped Robe. Afterwards a bunch of us are going to Penny's Diner in Southside afterward. If you find me good, if not find me at Penny's Diner in Southside for Breakfast. The Polar Bear Plunge is well worth doing, and this way your year starts off where you've done something completely weird and different.

ADVICE:
1. GET THERE BEFORE 9AM it gets crowded fast!!!
2. Have Blankets and a change of shorts, t shirts and socks
3. There are safety personel there.
4. You'll have to set your stuff down leave valuables in your car.
5. Drag someone else down there even if they aren't jumping then they can be towel/blanket holders and someone needs to laugh at us.
6. Channel 4 news is a sponsor of this so you have a chance of being on the news.

Additional Advice from previous years...
We jump from the Mon Wharf Parking directly across from Station Square.....and they leave the wharf parking entrance open...it'll look closed and unmanned, but the chain will be down for parking entrance in fact, there is usually a line of cars trying to get in so try to make it BEFORE 9am!

******If the wharf is closed due to flooding****

The official back up location is near the science center on the North Side. If so, at the wharf entrance on Ft Duquesne Blvd, there will be someone redirecting folks to the alternate location.

We park and meet on the Mon wharf, across the river from Station Square. Folks typical wear sweats , jacket, heck even a bath robe over their swim duds, and old shoes.

I'll be there by 9AM and we start to gather along the shore line. At 9:25 or so, we start getting our "beach wear" exposed and at 9:30 a whistle blows and folks start piling in! There's typically a rope and volunteers on the rivers edge to help folks in and out of the water and crazy as this sounds, it's all done with some safety in mind.

Cheers
Santa Frank ;-)
