BACKGROUND FROM DEENA, YOUR EVENT HOST: I lost my brother to leukemia in 2004 when a matching marrow donor could not be found. Around that same time, I met the Katz family. They were seeking a matching marrow donor for their 11-year old daughter Amy, who had been recently diagnosed with leukemia. Amy became the inspiration behind AMY'S ARMY, a local group of volunteers who organized bone marrow registration drives in Pittsburgh and across the country. I personally volunteered at many of these drives, and also organized a fundraiser to benefit Amy's Army back in 2007. www.amysarmy.org

TODAY AMY IS A HEALTHY, BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMAN! She is a recent Penn State graduate and is working this summer as an intern for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She is a leukemia survivor who has remained in remission all these years due to a designer chemotherapy drug called GLEEVEC. *This drug was developed with funding from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!!!

IN HER OWN WORDS - FROM THE BAR CRAWL ORGANIZER - AMY KATZ:  As an intern for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) this summer, I am organizing this fundraiser for our Intern Fundraising Challenge, where all the interns organize and execute their own fundraisers! Plus, I am doing a 100-mile bike ride this September with my dad and sister in Utah to benefit LLS through Team In Training—and we are fundraising for the ride! Please come support this AMAZING organization that is very near and dear to me and my family!

There are 40 people who RSVPed "Yes" via Facebook, and another 22 people who said "Maybe." There are also many people invited who will just show up on Saturday. I predict about 50-70 people will be on this bar crawl to benefit the LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
