Didn't realize that I had come off the wait list, as I never got an email from the system. It turns out I cannot make it anyhow. I will definitely seek to come to a future event, as estoy buscando opurtunidades por hablar espanol.
    Sorry for the late notice.

Gracias. The online translation sites, which I've been using a lot lately, recommend "de" actually, as in "Estoy buscando oportunidades de hablar espanol." Very small detail, I know.

      De nada.

Indeed, in this case the preposition of choice would be ‘de’. If you were in Spanish politics, say, you would be coming across expressions such as “No he tenido oportunidad de hablar con el Señor ministro”.“Estamos buscando la oportunidad de solicitar …”. If there is something contextual or arbitrary in a language, it is prepositions (outstanding case in point, the American ‘different THAN” vis-a-vis the British “different FROM”). This is a very plain fact and yet it needs to be emphasized as it gives a lot of trouble in practice. The general issue here is that, as there is no one-to-one application between languages, there is no fixed equivalent in translation. In this case, the Anglo-Saxon ‘to’ and ‘for’ will have both the same and different equivalents in Spanish (or any other language), depending on the context. The teachable point is that acquiring a language is basically a matter of practice, not knowledge.

I found the details on the Spanish radio program that I mentioned to some. Looks like there's 2 programs:

    1. Revista Radial Latinoamericana
    WRCT 88.3FM (www.wrct.org)
    Thursdays, 6:00-7:00 p.m.

    2. Brazilian Radio Hour
    WRCT 88.3FM
    Fridays, 6:00-7:00 p.m.

The owner of Salud said he could handle another 5 in our group but absolutely no more. I've increased the number of attendees to accommodate those on the wait list.

    Nos vemos sabado!

I am very nervous to be honest. I am a beginner with Spanish but need to learn.

I absolutely agree with Joyce. I'll tell you, honest Julius, this is a happy bunch to have fun with and learn in the process. Beginnings are always hopeful, laden with promise of a better future and what not. And fine Spanish—or at least Hispanic—food in the present. Go for it!

Hi! For those of you who wish to see the menu beforehand you can find a copy of the menu in Yelp! (and some yummy pictures)
since they do not have a website. See you all Saturday http://www.yelp.com/biz/salud-pittsburgh-2

Alas, I'm out of town that weekend. BTW, we're looking for new co-organizers. If you are willing and able to schedule a gathering, call venues to reserve and discuss details (headcount, separate checks possible, etc.), be there and meet and greet, we want you! Don't worry; you won't have to fly solo the first time. It's fun and fulfilling but some of us long-timers have less free time than we used to..... Talk to Mike or Ivan at Salud or email us for more info. Thanks!

Just ate there earlier this week. The ambiance isn't amazing but their Cuban sandwich sure was and it was big enough to feed two! Look forward to seeing everyone!
