Please forgive this off-topic mailing, but just wanted to make sure everyone knows that the deadline to register to vote is less than one week away: Monday, Oct. 4.
Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 2.
There will be some very stark choices on our local ballot this year -- particularly in the U.S. Senate race between Democrat Joe Sestak and Republican Pat Toomey -- and I hope everyone who can participate will make the time to do so. Voter registration forms can be found at many state and county offices, and can be downloaded here and mailed: http://www.votespa.com/portal/server.pt/community/register_to_vote/13518
In addition, the League of Women Voters is 90-year-old, nonpartisan organization that offers basic information about the candidates and what you'll find on your electronic ballot come Election Day. http://palwv.org/voting/vote.html
Unlike our primary party elections in May, in which only those affiliated with the Democratic or Republican party could participate, all registered voters (include those affiliate with the Libertarian or the Green parties, or those who are unaffiliated) can participate Nov. 2. You must be a U.S. citizen to register to vote.
