I teach Scottish Country Dancing here in Pittsburgh, play accordion for dancing (and just for fun), and belong to the local St. Andrews Society. I always look forward to meeting new dancers to dance with!
We are a group for anyone interested in traditional Scottish dance and music. Scottish country dance is sometimes called "the ballroom dancing of Scotland" -- it's a social dance form in which square dancing and contra dancing have their origins. It is also a great form of exercise and aerobic activity. It is practiced world-wide -- learn to dance here in Pittsburgh and you can attend social dance events the world over! Come for a fun-filled evening of social dance. You don't need a partner. You don't need any particular attire (although comfortable soft-soled shoes are a plus). You don't need to be Scottish. Beginners are always welcome! Our classes meet Mondays and Saturdays, except during the summer. We begin at 7 PM with instruction on the basic steps and figures for beginning dancers.
