Introduction

Hi there, I'm an educator/historian and a former interpretive specialist/curator for the Maidu Indian Museum (5 years) and a current docent for the Nisenan program at the Sac History Museum. I'm really looking forward to meeting folks in this group!

What creek do you live closest to? General area?

I live in West Sac, close to the Sacramento River but my family hikes along Putah Creek quite often.

What wild plants have you tasted? And do you have any special recipes to share?

I've tasted manzanita berry cider and cooked acorn mush. Also roasted brodeia bulbs. Sorry no recipes to share yet but I love the book "Seaweed, Salmon, and Manzanita Cider."

List any special sites and/or plants you'd like to help us adopt.

I don't know too much yet about what areas need special protection but I'm willing to learn and help out.

List any stewardship or craft workshops or adventures you might like to lead, or that you'd like to attend?

Anything to do with Native/CA Indian ethnobotany.

Hi April. Although I'm personally interested in anthropology and native cultures, this is a group for fantasy, science fiction, and horror fiction, so I don't know how much chance you'll get to talk about that! You may be better served by the other writers groups in the Sacramento area.

Hi April,
I was still oh so impressed that you remembered my name. You had always stood out to me in this group because of the one craft time we did with my daughter whom was like only 20 months at the time. But that you remembered out of all the people that you meet. It says so much!!!!

I really had such a great time today over at rita's house that I didn't deactive myself from the group and re joined. So i know for sure i will see you again. It was really GREAT talking with you!
