This is a group for people in the Northern California area that are interested in learning about, sharing and using herbs.
Our mission is to empower people by providing information via dialog which encourage them to use or grow herbs and vegetables in their own backyard, or forage for them locally in a sustainable manner.
Part of this groups goal is to meet other local Herbalists, Healers, Chefs, Cooks and people who are interested in working with herbs for purposes such as health, medicine, culinary use, magic and other uses. By forming a strong community we are able to help each other educate those around us and overcome prejudices and other obstacles that may face us.
However, it is not neccesarry to be a herbalist as we will discuss growing both medicinal and culinary herbs as well as many ways to use herbs and herbal products in our daily lives and how people can improve their heath and lives using herbs.
Because California is a large and diverse state, members are encouraged to break into smaller groups and develop core groups made up of people in your neighborhoods.
As conversations grow and interests are revealed, I'm confident that more meet-ups will occur and knowledge will pass from one to another.
As we meet, it's nice to exchange ideas, recipes, information and sites.
Other than the local meetings that you members will be organizing, there will be one larger meeting offered occasionally by the group organizer. This will be an opportunity for the more experienced members to come and teach a class on their specialties. This may cover other things not generally covered by traditional herb classes such as making dyes from herbs or food.
We hope to provide people with opportunities to educate themselves for personal health and well being. If you have a herbal products business you are encouraged to promote your business within the group at the end of each meetup.
I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
