Let's Hike at Settler's Park!

  • Settlers Park

24401 W Lockport Rd, Plainfield, IL (map)

    41.608413 -88.212427

  • Parking lot behind Village Hall.

  • Let's meet at Settler's Park.  We will start out at 5:45, promptly...if you are running late, you can catch us on the loop back.  We will walk for about 4.5 miles or longer.

This is a lit path that circles a pond, goes into the woods and has some very pretty features. We will have to make it a few times around to get in the miles we want, but I think you will enjoy this location! Meet behind the Plainfield Village Hall Parking lot at the stone walk ledge near the bathrooms. You can park at the village lot.

Sorry to back out guys, but I just don't want to hike when the temp (even with windchill) goes below zero. I am out for tonight. Do we have some die-hards that still want to go and lead this hike?

So, what do you guys usually wear/bring?

Depends on the weather...layers is always recommended, when it is really windy, I recommend a fabric that helps to block the wind too. Shoes...definitely something comfortable and good support. If you have running shoes you really like, those are great. There are times that you may need a water proof options and I can give you some suggestions...cheap and dependable ones!

I would ALWAYS bring gloves and a hat in the winter. It is also a good idea to bring water even if you don't plan to go a long distance and even if it is cold outside.
