Play Go in a Tournament for all Levels

Bay Area Go's Winter Go Tournament is coming up Saturday, February 22nd, 2014 in downtown Berkeley. The BART station is a block away, and there is a parking garage right next door.

There will be four rounds of AGA-rated play with no elimination, so everybody gets to play in all four rounds. This tournament has lots of special features, so check it out:

Cash prizes for the top players in each of four divisions

An open section so the strongest players can play all even games

Free pizza

Go book prizes for those playing in their first go tournament

Fun door prizes handed out at random

Much more!

The tournament is open to go players of all levels. Last time we had players ranging from 25 kyu to 8 dan, and several people playing in their first tournament. If you don't know your level, we'll figure out a good entry rank for you. You must be a member of the American Go Association to play, but you can join the AGA at the same time you register for the tournament.

You can learn more by reading the tournament flier at[masked]-bag-tournament.pdf, and you can register online for the tournament at to save $5 on your entry fee and save yourself a little time on the morning of the tournament.

We had 46 players at the Summer tournament and 39 at the Fall tournament, so come out and join the fun!

If you've never been to a go tournament before and are wondering what it is like, check out these pictures from our Summer tournament.

Do spectator have to pay? Or can we watch if we do not want to enter tournament?
