Playtest @ Dragonmeet 2013

Playtest UK will be returning to Dragonmeet for the 4th year running to run the Playtest Zone. Check out the www.dragonmeet.co.uk website for more details.

We will be playtesting all day on Saturday.

This will be a public playtesting event for card games, board games, digital game prototypes. If you are a games designer, this is a perfect opportunity to play your game with the great gaming public and receive more feedback in a day than you usually would in a month.

There will be a prize draw for playtesters that sit down to play a prototype.

If you would like to bring along a game design, or just help out on the stand, please contact Rob Harris (Organiser) or leave a message below.

Adult Tickets can be bought from the website for about £8 each (or they are £10 on the door).

Under 16's  tickets are about £4 on the website (£5 on the door)

Concessions are about £6 each (or £8 on the door)

Transport: I wouldn't advise driving as parking in this area of London is very expensive, but the venue is a short walk from High Street Kensington tube station, which is on the District & Circle tube lines.

If you have any questions please add them to the comments section below and I'll try and answer them. Alternatively, feel free to contact me directly.

Thank you Rob for organising the playtest area. On behalf of Paul and myself we both found it very useful to play with and get feedback from folk we had not previously met. Looking forward to the next chance to take part. :) Dave.

A big thank you to everyone who turned out to make the Playtest @ Dragonmeet event such a success, particularly Bez, Brett, Chris, Katarina and Phil for helping out with the setup and keeping the stand running all day with a smile on their faces.
Also, Cat and her team for organising Dragonmeet 2013, which had a very welcoming atmosphere. It was great to see a more diverse group of gamers and more board games played. I had an interesting chat with some RPG designers about the prospect of collaborating on a RPG Playtest group as well. Already looking forward to Dragonmeet 2014.

As always, thanks for facilitating the playtesting, Rob. Though I was happy to help out, I did have ulterior motives and I thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from the day's events.

What time should we aim to be there? I don't have a ticket at present, so is it just 10?

    1 · December 6, 2013

    • Rob H.

You should be able to get a ticket on the door at 10am. See you there. Cheers, Rob

    hi,
I will bring my news game: newsy. I should be there around 1pm.

  • Rob H.

Good news. I just checked the TFL website and it looks like the London transport system should be working okay on Saturday.

  • Behrooz S.

Managed to wrangle the day off work. Rob, what time will you need help?

And how does the playtest area work? Do just come/stay at unscheduled times or do we need to arrange exact times for when we want to explore the rest of the con?

I'd like to come along and get involved.

    1 · December 4, 2013

    • Nik B.

im not involved or organising the event but from what I read on the website the doors open and then you can put your name down to take part in playing certain playtest games at certain times ( it looks very much like an unconference/barcamp method ) . Of course I might be wrong. Either way it suggests buying a ticket or else arrive at 9.30am to buy a ticket on the door and then when the doors open there is a place where you can sign up to trial .

I may have all this wrong but that was how I read it

Dragonmeet on the whole works on a sign-up basis, particularly for the roleplaying games but the Playtest Zone works more on a drop-in basis without the need to sign-up. Anyone has the ability to just sit down and playtest a game or bring a prototype along on the day. We will be recruiting playtesters from the regular convention attendees. Hope this makes sense. Please let me know if you have any questions. See you on Saturday. Cheers, Rob

    Hi Rob,

I'd like to bring along my Space Race game for a test. Are you putting together a schedule, or should I just run up whenever?

    1 · November 27, 2013

    • Rob H.

Hi Dean. Space Race has been added to the list. There will be a loose schedule, but there will also be drop-in playtest tables. We have been given 6 tables overall. Come and find us when you arrive and you will either be able to go straight onto a table or be scheduled for a little later. Cheers, Rob

Hey Rob, I've been given the green light so I can come along for a while.

I'll bring my evil genius game, which I think sounds better with it's new name "Doomsday!"
