Playtest UK @ Toy Fair 2014

The London Toy Fair will be held at Olympia London from Tuesday 21st - Thursday 23rd January. It would be great to meet up with any Playtest UK members attending for a coffee and a chat.

Let's say Wednesday 22nd January at 12pm in the West Hall Café.

Toy Fair isn't open to the general public, but if you have an interest or role in the games industry, it is possible to register in advance for a free ticket here:

It seems that there is no objection to Wednesday 12pm as a meeting time, so let's make it official. Anyone got a good idea for how to identify each other? Red carnation? Paper hat made from Toy Fair programme? (I'll be wearing a red Playtest UK t-shirt while I drink my coffee.)

Looking forward to seeing you there. Cheers, Rob

I would suggest that everyone introduces themselves to Rob.

I'll be in a North & South black T-Shirt. Red shirts always get zapped straight after beaming down...

Please note that the organisers have renamed the café the Sky Media Café. It is still next to the Vivid stand in Area G. Look forward to seeing you there on Wednesday. Cheers, Rob

As a promo-ho, would this be worth taking the day off work for?

Is this worth attending to make contacts if one doesn't currently have a game they're shopping to publishers?

I'd be most interested in seeing first hand what type of games each company publishes. There's be no point in going to Fantasy Flight with a kids puzzle game for example.

      Reasonable reason for going?

Then do your research...get on the toy news site and review each exhibitor. Not always many publishers there. Maybe self publishers like me..but companies like Green Board Game like family type games and can discuss potential ideas depending on how far you get it. Others are licensees, distributors etc etc.. Check toy fair guide on www.btha.co.uk for exhibitor list. Good luck!
