London Playtest weekday meetup

The 1st weekday meetup for the London Playtest UK group will be on Monday 10th February from 6pm in the Jugged Hare, Victoria.

If you've designed a game, bring it along and give it a play or just enjoy playing other people's prototypes in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.

Please feel free to add details of your game in the comments section below. As this is a new venture for the London group, the formula will be playtested and tweaks made along the way.

(Please note that as a condition of our use of the Jugged Hare, only food and drink bought at the pub can be consumed on the premises.)

List of Prototypes to be playtested:

Distant Worlds (Chris Keating)

Game of Stones (Chris Keating)

Chancery Lane (Kevan Davis)

gamedeveloperz (Ennio De Nucci)

World Traders (Andy Yiangou)

Towers (Andy Yiangou)

Monumentum (Harvey Patchett-Joyce)

Scattered Fleet (Andrew Rowse)

Cursed Temple (Andrew Rowse)

Imperialism in Space (James Moulding)

Untitled Prototype (Gokce Balkan)

Blackjack attack (Helen Walton)

Was very nice meeting everyone, as someone that spent years on the committee of a London inventors club I was very impressed with everyone's prototypes

Thanks for everyone who came along. Really good first outing for the weekday London Playtest meetup and a surprisingly good turnout. The format was less rigid and seemed to work quite well overall. Everyone was willing to try any prototypes and were mindful of the time taken. This format seemed to provide a useful trying ground to come with the first beginnings of a game idea/prototype and just get it in front of players, even for only 20 mins or so.

Let me know your thoughts on how it went and suggestions for possible improvements. (As ever the format itself will be continually playtested and built on.)

Hi all, is it possible to test a quick version of Blackjack Attack? We've hit an unexpected problem! I'd only need individuals - so maybe I could squeeze in before playtesting proper starts or in the break!

Hi Helen, You are welcome to bring along Blackjack Attack. The format for the weekday meetup hasn't been defined yet, so there should be plenty of opportunity for quick playtests. Look forward to seeing you later. Cheers, Rob

As I'll happen to be in London, I would like to bring my game for blind playtesting.

The weekend meetup has quite a structured schedule of 90 mins sessions for each prototype and a pre-registration of games. As the weekday meetup is a new venture, I wanted to leave the structure a little looser, especially at first and allow it to evolve to see what works. Any suggestions will be very welcome.

(A list of proposed prototypes has been added above, but this is just a guide and not a pre-registration. Feel free to mention your prototype in the comments or drop me an email.)

The only requirement for having your prototype playtested at the meetup is being available and willing to playtest the game designs of other members as well. The group is based on this mutual support.

I'm hoping to have a completely revamped (ie untested and horrendously balanced) version of Scattered Fleet (space exploration and combat). Failing that, Cursed Temple (queue management)!

I'll be there with my game: gamedeveloperz, a card game about the game industry and its funny situations!
It would be really great to catch some passionate boardgamers to have some feedback!

I'll finally get along to one of these and bring Chancery Lane, a boardgame of Mornington Crescent that needs more playtesting.

Welcome to the Playtest group, Kevan. I'll be interested to read the Chancery Lane rules; I'm sure I've been playing MC wrong all these years. Cheers, Rob

I'm gonna say yes now, bringing an updated (almost entirely reworked) version of my time travel worker placement game - Warp Factory. If life happens, and I can't get the prototype into a playable shape, I might pull out though.

Hi all would love to pop in for an hour. I thought you might be interested to know the prototype you guys helped us on is now live! It's still a beta... but you can play it! https://apps.facebook.com/blackjack-attack/

Hi Helen, it would be great to see you and see how Blackjack Attack is developing. Cheers, Rob
