London Playtest weekday meetup

The 2nd weekday meetup for the London Playtest UK group will be on Monday 10th March from 6pm in the Jugged Hare, Victoria.

If you've designed a game, bring it along and give it a play or just enjoy playing other people's prototypes in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.

Please feel free to add details of your game in the comments section below. As the weekday meetup is less structured than the weekend meetup, it might be more useful for very early prototypes and concepts as well as full game tests. As usual the formula will be playtested and tweaks made along the way.

(Please note that as a condition of our use of the Jugged Hare, only food and drink bought at the pub can be consumed on the premises.)

List of Prototypes to be playtested (tbc):

Scattered Fleet (Andrew Rowse)

Towers (Andy Yiangou)

Putt Putt Pirates (Barry)

Fustuarium (Barry)

Newsy (Alunga)

Roll-Play (Adam)

Stormy Weather (Michael Dnes)

Untitled spice-trading game (Ben Walker)

The Thing (Chris Towl)

Monumentum (Harvey Patchett-Joyce)

Hello. I'd like to bring this spice trading game I've been working on (haven't settled on a name for it yet.) I realise it's short notice, so I'd be happy to come along tomorrow and help test the games already on the list if that's more convenient. cheers

Hi Ben, Look forward to seeing you later. I've added your game to the list. Cheers, Rob

Hello! If there's any chance, I'd love to get some views on the latest prototype of a game called Stormy Weather. Two mad scientists, forty weather-control machines and some sharp-edged gardening. Looking forward to Monday

    Hi Robin,

If it's not too late to get a game on the table, I'll be bringing Roll-Play: a relatively light, dice-based role-selection game.

    Cheers,

    Adam

Hope you manage to get the evening off. It will be good to see you. Cheers, Rob

    Sure, I'm in.

I'll bring Putt Putt Pirates again, though I'm not significantly further along: Card game, memory, matching mechanic - 30 - 45 minutes.

And Fustuarium: Card game, traitor, bluffing mechanic, ??? minutes.

Fustuarium is entirely untested and likely to be terrible :)

I find that playtesting the same game - even if it's with mainly the same players but specially if it's not - can bring up new info. It's great to keep evolving, but I think it's good to stay steady and learn all you can at one stage before deciding which direction to dive in.

Not that I'm an expert or anything. This is just in my own (very limited) experience. :-p

I think I can do this one, if i'm also in London. Look forward to the new Scattered fleet

    1 · February 26, 2014

  • Andrew R.

I'll bring Scattered Fleet - A tactical area control and space combat game, 2-5 players, 60-90 minutes.

    1 · February 23, 2014

    • Rob H.

Thanks, Andrew. Added to the list. Cheers, Rob
