Newcastle Playtest meetup

Ever designed a game and wanted to see how it plays? Enjoy playing games and being creative? Do you know what makes a game fun? Don't leave your game ideas sitting on the shelf gathering dust; show them off at the first Newcastle Playtest meetup and get feedback direct from the players.

We are a friendly group of board/card game designers who are creating a regular playtesting event on the first Tuesday of the month at The Bridge Hotel in Newcastle (NE1 1RQ right next to the castle keep).

Everyone is welcome to join us and bring along their own designs or settle down to play and give their opinion. We look forward to welcoming you at the meetup!

Big drat. I sat where the bartender told me you normally sat - at the back of the pub, and I displayed my open game box the whole time, with all its dice and bits, so that it was obvious what I was. I asked everyone at the other tables in the end (raised) section of the bar if they were gamers. I did look at the lower tables near the bar, but concluded that those weren't the people I was there to meet. When's the next one?

I think we sat up the top the first time, but every time since then it's been lower down. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month, so the next one is 6th May. I look forward to seeing you and your Meerkats then!

Turned up around 6.40. Waited until 7.50. Left. Saw no one. Had a game to playtest - a cooperative 2-4 player game called 'Meerkats United' in which the players try to survive a day as a tribe of meerkats, finding food, watching out for hawks, and trying to work out whether it's worth the risk of a sting to eat a scorpion. Three said they were going, but if they went, they were either very late or very well camouflaged.

Hiya Lloyd, Sorry to hear we missed you. We usually sit on the table on the left just after the bar down below the knitters. I got there about 6:35, but due to work issues the other two who came didn't make it until nearer eight, so I was just sat waiting for them and didn't look like a gamer until the others arrived and we actually started playing games. As Paul says, if you RSVP here ahead of time we'll know to be looking out for a new face. Hope to see you next time when there should be a few more of us. Cheers, Jack

Hi Loyd, it's not always that obvious, me and Daniel almost missed each other last time as it was a low turnout. Probably best to RSVP and post on here first. I couldn't make it this month, but hopefully see you and your meerkat game next time.
