What is your earliest gaming memory?

Playing board games with my brothers when I was growing up. We had the usual array of games in our house; Monopoly, Cluedo, Scrabble, and Connect 4. Along with the standards we had some other more era based games, such as Formula one, Totopoly, Slapstick (a Laurel & Hardy board game), Yeti, Kojak, The Sweeney, Game of Dracula, board game versions of video games (Donkey Kong and Frogger), 221b Baker Street, and the rather brilliant Escape from Colditz. We also had a game called 'Blackout' and I've only ever seen one other copy, on display at the Museum of London in their wartime gallery. After spending a misspent youth pursuing other interests and playing lots of different trivia style board games in between, I got back into games via a game called Tantrix about 10-12 years ago, which I still play today and pretty much goes on holiday with me and the family. It seems to be the game that everyone asks us about wherever and whenever we play it in a pub!

Is there a favourite game you like to play?

I'm always partial to a game of Tantrix, Acquire, Ticket to ride, Memoir 44. I like most games, but sometimes have to be in the mood for longer, more strategy based games that are new to me. My ideal game has very quick to learn rules, not too long game length, and lots of repeat playability.

What most interests you about the group?

Play testing new ideas and providing constructive feedback for designers. Hopefully over a good real ale or two...

Introduction

Hi. I've been playing board games for around the last 10 years, after getting into them via a game called Tantrix and my very good friend Rob, who has introduced a vast amount of games to me in the last 10 years.
