This will be the organizational meeting. It will be a "meet and greet" and there will be a short discussion of rules of the road and the customs and courtesies of cycling. In the event of rain we will go for coffee and postpone the ride until the following week.
We will call our first ride the "Ruby Hills Ride." We will be leaving the Senior Center, south to Valley then north on Case Avenue, Old Bernal Avenue and through town on Peters to St. John. East on Vineyard, past Ruby Hills to Isabelle Avenue. Then north to Concannon, east to Murdell, then east on Stanley to Mucho Park. We will stop here to regroup, if necessary. Through the Mucho Arroyo trail to Isabelle. South on the bike trail to the Stanley Bike Trail, then back to Pleasanton retracing our path from Ray through town.
We will have a short stop at Vineyard and Isabelle and, if requested, at Murrieta and Stanley. We will then stop at Tulley's in Pleasanton before continuing to the Senior Center.
It is about 15 miles, failrly flat with stops along the way to regroup and catch our breaths. It is not the most scenic route we will be taking, but if everyone is comfortable with this length, in the following weeks we will visit the Wente and Concannon vineyards, and take my personal favorite - the Cookie Run which includes the Alamo Creek Trail (one of the nicest venues around).
After the meeting there will be a stop at Tulley's that should end before Noon. Please comment if you have any questions.
Don't forget to bring your helmet and an extra tire tube. Guests are always welcome.
After this meeting we will meet each Thursday, weather permitting, at 9 AM in the Senior Center's parking lot.
