Anyone know the best resources.....

Im in the early stages of starting my own web 2.0 site. Outside of the obvious (hire outside developer) and consultant are there any websites, book, etc on tips, resources even a list of possible technologys to add as a option to what you plan on doing. I read as much as I can and surf the web but I live in the Sacramento area and have a tough time getting down to the bay area for meetings and networking (although I will as I get closer to getting this project off the ground).

You read about the google guys, twitter, facebook, yahoo etc they are all young and had great ideas that turned into something incredible. Before I pull the trigger I would just like to see all my options. Any advice would be great! This is my first post and I can not wait to start hitting your meetups (miss that fish in chips down there).
