YOU CAN NOT EDIT YOUR OWN WORK!!!!
Before an author submits his/her work for publication. It must go through several levels of critiques and edits...
#1 - Every writer should have a First Reader: A fellow writer/friend/relative who enjoys reading, but is not afraid to offer critical comments about your work...
#2 - Once the writer has a manuscript he/she thinks is ready for publication, he/she should seek a professional edit... (Someone other than your First Reader)
Depending on the genre and complexity of your manuscript - these are the levels of edits that you may need for your work
- The Proof Read
- The Copy Edit
- The Hard Edit
- The Technical Edit
