Rich Dark Backgrounds: Winslow Homer’s Way

Let’s paint rich wonderful dark backgrounds by studying a Winslow Homer painting. This great American painter worked in both watercolors and oils, so bring any medium including acrylics and a copy of the Homer painting that you want to learn from. In the morning, Joan will demonstrate and offer insightful tips while you decipher his layering of paint and develop a paint sketch with colorful darks that are not flat or boring. In the afternoon, weather permitting, we paint outdoors and use some of Homer’s techniques, which will add drama to any work of art. Point Reyes’ sun and fog dapples light on fields, foliage and water, which is the essence of a Homer painting. Beginners to experienced painters please join in!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
