October meetup: JK Galbraith - The Economics of Innocent Fraud

Hi - thanks to all who showed up and contributed to the discussion last night. We fixed a meeting date for next time - Tuesday 11 October. Hopefully at the beginning of the week the Savoy will be less noisy - if you have alternative suggestions for a venue (preferably Central London) please let me know. I also posted some suggestions for next session's reading - it's worth noting that the Arendt book is much longer than the other texts, though if anyone's already read it they may be able to suggest some extracts. http://www.meetup.com/Political-Animals-Central-London/polls/361052/ Thanks - Ilse

Ilse is a really good organiser who ensures a really well-structured meetup where most people will have read the book and a well-informed discussion of the book/topic under consideration. I actually turned up quite late and had not read the book this time, but still enjoyed the stimulating discussion and debate.

Thanks to everyone who was there - tonight was a lot quieter than last time so we might try moving permanently to Tuesday.

Hi all - sorry to nix what seems to be the (narrow) majority choice for next month's reading, but since Jay is not going to be there I would prefer to go with JK Galbraith: The Economics of Innocent Fraud - also the shorter option. It is available on Amazon, Google Books, libraries, etc. etc. See you in October - Ilse

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
