Rich Opportunities with Poor Man's Type Classes

-- Heiko Seeberger

In an object-oriented language like Scala subtype polymorphism is the "natural" way to handle values of different data types with a uniform interface. But sometimes you can't or don't want to create subclasses. This is when type classes shine. With only a few slides and a lot of live code, Heiko will take a tour through what type classes are, what facilities are present in Scala for them, and some of their applications.

Getting There

By transit there a number of high frequency buses (check Google Maps or the Translink site for your particular case) that will get you there. For the drivers, there is a fair bit of street parking (free and pay) in the area, especially after 6.
