An Evening in China

Chinese cuisine has a long and rich tradition as well as wide diversity. The eight long-standing styles of cooking in China are Anhui, Cantonese, Fujian, Hunan, Jiangsu, Shandong, Szechuan, and Zhejiang.

The four main criteria for good Chinese food are: color, aroma, taste and texture.

For our Evening in China, please join me at my house to prepare and then enjoy a variety of Chinese dishes.

After much research, I will put together a menu that is both interesting and manageable. With the event fee, I will shop for ingredients.

Together we will cook various dishes at work stations I will have set up around my house. Depending on your skill and comfort level, you can choose easy or intricate preparations - usually in tandem with another person!

After we have created the meal, we sit and dine! Typically, people will bring wine. As the time nears, I will send out an email with some beverage suggestions as well as the menu.

Join me for this unique event as we continue our culinary journey around the world!

Deliciously,

Alicia

Hi China Foodies! Here's an attempt at a quick poll before tonight.
Do you prefer white rice or brown rice? I have a bigger pot and a smaller pot and will make a larger amount of the most preferred rice type. Please answer if you can - see you all this afternoon! Looks like we won't have to worry about being too hot this time. :)

Corinna is bringing plum wine! Mmmmm! I'm all done with shopping. In Daytona there is a dearth of Chinese ingredients. We will slide by on what I got - so no dried lily flowers this time, folks. Nor fresh bamboo shoots.

Our China event is going to be a mere six days after Chinese New Year. I'll come up with some fun stuff for us to do - like read Chinese horoscopes!

That sounds like fun. Maybe we could burn some fake money and feed our ancestors, too!

Hi All, Anyone want to trade an Evening in New Orleans for two, for An Evening in China for two? Unfortunately, I will be out of town at a seminar on 1/26/13 and going to a dinner & show that evening. There is a waiting list for both New Orleans and China. I am on the waiting list for China. I very much enjoy these events and hope to go to as many as I possibly can. Please let me know if you're interested. Smiles,
    Kelly
