A PUBLIC SERVICE REMINDER from the Portland Bicycle Commuting Meetup:

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS next Saturday night/Sunday morning, November 1-2.

That means that starting A WEEK FROM TODAY, your evening commute after 4:30 PM, and progressively earlier, will be after sunset.

If you intend to keep going after this week, this is your last week to equip your bike with lights if you have not already. The next opportunity to purchase discounted red taillights from this group will be at our How to Ride All Winter event on November 12 at the East End Community Center. Until then, you may purchase both taillights and headlights from most local bike stores. Note that Maine law requires nighttime riders to use a headlight in front and either a red reflector or a taillight in the back, all visible from at least 200' away, as well as pedal reflectors or reflective ankle straps.

If you are unfamiliar with your lighting options, the recent message thread on Bike Lights is a good introduction, and has some links to other online resources.

Please ride safely and legally at night! See you around!

Please Note: If you hit "REPLY", your message will be sent to everyone on this mailing list ([address removed])
