Bike Network Audit 2010

Sharrows are left of center: left-hand "coffin corner?" No indication that bikes can turn right onto Forest. [#21]

I think it is because they want to funnel bikes off of Forest? If you, say, turn left off Ocean onto Forest and come up to that light, "bike route" signs direct you off of forest to that smaller street that runs past the bakery. I'm not sure where they direct you after that but I assume some sort of back street route that parallels Forest.

Are you talking about Deering Avenue? That runs by Big Sky, is a back street, parallels Forest and has a "bike route". The bike lane then hooks up to any number of directions in the aforementioned "death star" USM intersection. I ride Forest pretty frequently when Back Bay or Deering are a "safer option". Forest between Woodford's Corner and Deering Oaks is not optimum for most cyclists, I would wager. However, I like to constantly remind the driving public that I can ride where I please (barring highways, of course),keep up with traffic just fine and do so at no inconvenience to them.
